simon johnson warehouse sale

May 2, 2010

It was 7:25am on a not-so-sunny Saturday morning and I had roused the VTB from his sleep with a fervent phone call.

“I’m leaving the house in 5 minutes super mario odyssey kostenlos downloaden. If you’re planning on taking a shower, now’s the time.”

It was 7:53am when I pulled up outside the VTB’s place of residence herunterladen.

“Hop in! It’s about to start! And I have no idea how to get there!”

And it was 8:02am when our feet hit the pavement elster formulare downloaden.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you walk so fast.” said the VTB, under his breath as I pounded down the street.

“Sure you have r4 ds spiele kostenlos downloaden! Quick feet now!” was my reply, for I never walk so fast as when there are things to be bought – and even more so when things are edible and on sale vm ware.

We arrived to a maddened warehouse of ever-so-polite-yet-determined shoppers kostenlos spiele herunterladen für tablet.

“I’m sorry, but we’ve run out of shopping trolleys and baskets.” said the staff member guarding the entrance “If you hang out near the cashiers though, some may free up.”

We wandered, and waited, and snagged a wire basket to fill with goodies of all shapes and sizes cool pc games for free. And when the wire basket was full, we queued for the cashier in a line that snaked past the packs of peach, pear and lychee puree, past the flatbreads, past the valrhona section, past the mint turkish delight, and all the way back to the end of the first aisle herunterladen.

And at the end of the queue, and $197.81 later, the VTB & I lugged two big brown boxes back to our parked car and looked at each other in quiet bewilderment at what we had done sims 4 kleidung kostenlos downloaden.

(And, as an aside, if you do decide to go to the sale next year, bring a friend – for there is nothing grander than being able to take turns hopping in and out of an ever-growing queue to find gems like $2.00 bottles of tea oil that you won’t even get charged for and $0.99 boxes of single origin chocolate, valrhona or not program to from youtube musik.)

what we bought

So… what does $197.81 translate to in terms of cold, hard food? For an initial comparison, I’ll tell you that if we had bought everything at recommended retail, we would have spent $979.83. Or, more correctly, we wouldn’t have spent $979.83 because that is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on the things that we bought.

4.8kg of chocolate

This is what 4.8kg of chocolate looks like.

3x boxes (12x75g) of marie clare 70% dark chocolate @ $0.99 each = $2.97
3x 20g blocks of valrhona chocolate in caraibe (66%), Guanaja (70%) and Jivara (40%) @ $1.19 each = $3.57
1x duarde fish with things in its belly = $5.37
2x 1kg blocks of 62% valrhona chocolate $22.31 each = $44.62
2x random chicken / duck chocolates (that they didn’t have a price for so let us have for freeeee!)

Total cost = $56.53 (total saving = $123.22)

6 litres of oil

And by oil, I mean oil and fat because I didn’t want to stick the butter in a separate photo.

2x 250g Girgar Butter @ $2.20 each = $4.40
1x 250ml wasabi infused olive oil = $2.70
1x 4L can of oilive oil = $12.75
2x 500ml bottles of truffle infused olive oil (with real truffle in the bottom!) @ $10.23 each = $20.46
1x 250ml lemon infused olive oil = $5.99
1x 250ml bottle of tea oil (that they also didn’t charge us for… though I think it was meant to be $2.00)

Total cost = $46.30 (total saving = $218.65)

Nicer versions of otherwise normal stuff

1x giant bag of porcini mushrooms = $13.07
1x 300ml bottle of pear & elderflower cordial = $5.97
1x box of farro fusili = $5.70
1x 2.5kg tub of chestnut flower honey = $13.64
1x bag of chestnut flour = $9.62

Total cost = $48.00 (total saving = $215.40)

Jamie Oliver merchandise

Not that I particularly love Jamie, but the VTB needed a new chopping board & I’m a sucker for spices.

1x chopping board = $19.42
1x speed peeler = $3.21
1x six spice mix in tins = $5.00

Total cost = $27.63 (total saving = $67.89)

Random things that I bought for the heck of it

1x 70gm ferran adria lyofied peach cubes = $9.37
1x 70gm ferran adria lyofied strawberry cubes = $6.41
1x 500gm Iota gelific powder = $3.55

Total cost = $19.33 (total saving = $156.87)

The verdict? Go along if you have a free Saturday morning in a year’s time. And bring your credit card. And someone sensible to tell you that there is no way you’ll get through 2.5kg of honey in a lifetime. *headsmack*
